Having a systematic way to improve performance is crucial as companies compete for business and struggle to grow margins. Most companies improve over time; however those that improve the fastest, driving wasted time and materials out of processes, gain the competitive upper hand.
As a result more printing companies are exploring and committing to the concepts and practices of Lean production and other quality management systems. For those companies this portal ushers in a new reality of self-paced, online training classes geared to the graphic communications industry.
The following classes are available for use by printing executives, managers, and team members.
- Understanding Variation
- The Seven Basic Tools of Performance Improvement
- Introduction to Lean Manufacturing
- 5S and Teams
- Makeready Reduction
- Standard Work and Total Productive Maintenance
- Visual Management and Kanbans
Each class is 60-90 minutes long and authored by an acknowledged expert on the topic. The online content is comprised of slides, narration, videos, and a quiz—all developed specifically for the printing industry. Those buying a class have access to it for months, able to watch and re-watch it as their schedule allows.
Other classes will be added in the coming months. In addition to the online classes, the Printing Industries of America has a variety of other resources on continuous improvement and related topics, including our annual Continuous Improvement Conference.
